Are you a fan of lace-up shoes or are you one of those who seek the comfort of velcro? Both systems have their points in favor and also their points against and we are going to review them to be able to decide with greater knowledge.

Velcro has in its favor the great comfort when putting on and taking off shoes. This makes it the perfect system for young children who cannot tie their shoelaces yet. In fact, many early childhood education centers require velcro footwear to avoid having to tie laces all day.

For this same reason they are also perfect for older people who may find it difficult to tie knots due to osteoarthritis or arthritis. They are safer for them because they do not run the risk of undoing a knot and stepping on a cord ending up on the ground, with the risk of falls at certain ages.

But velcro also have points against it and the most important is surely the aesthetic one. It is not the most elegant or prettiest type of closure and, although it is perfectly valid in high-top sports shoes, in the lower part or in low-top shoes the cord is more attractive.

And it is precisely one of the advantages of laces is that they allow you to customize your footwear in various ways. You can use colored laces and even join a pair of thin laces to create a thicker, two-tone one. They can be tied crossed online or even in other more original and fun ways. And they can be finished in a loop or hidden so that the rope is not seen at the end.

You can also choose between flat and round laces and you can even use elastic laces that allow you to put on and take off without undoing the lacing. The possibilities are many and varied and not only for sports shoes, but for other types of sports shoes.

Its drawbacks are also obvious and many of them have already been commented: difficulties in making the loops, dangers due to loose laces and we could add that it is more difficult to regulate the pressure. For example, if after walking for a while the sneakers begin to tighten because the foot swells, with velcro it is very easy and quick to loosen a little and relieve pressure, while with laces the process is more laborious.
